“Aiuchi” means to hit or strike each other at the same time in flight. If it was a samurai fight with Japanese swords, both of them might kill each other, not just hurt each other.
On the other hand, when they held swords right before striking each other with respect to avoid killing or hurting an opponent, aiuchi turned out a meaning of a draw. So Aiuchi does not simply have some synonyms such as a draw and break-even but pain sharing, trade-off etc.
