Visiting the Ueno National Museum and the Japanese Sword Museum, Kudo continued his self-study for the special terms of swords by watching the actual swords. Eventually he became friends with the receptionist at the Japanese Sword Museum and he was introduced to one of the sword lovers. One day, Kudo was invited to an old sword appreciation event hosted by Takeshi Takayama and he met Masahira Fujiyasu and Tsuguyasu Matsuda swordsmiths at that event.
While consulting with his teacher after graduating from high school, Kudo also consulted with Matsuda swordsmith whose home was the closest to his home. But at that time Matsuda swordsmith was not ready to accept any disciples.
One day in the last summer vacation of high school, Takayama accompanied Kudo to Fujiyasu swordsmith place. Kudo could have an accommodation experience staying at Fujiyasu’s home for a few days. During his stay, he could experience making a short knife with one of the disciples’ support. Kudo thought that it was a very good environment to train to be a swordsmith and asked Fujiyasu to become his disciple before he went back home. Then, he got the permission and it was the moment when Kudo started walking in the way of the Japanese swordsmith.
