In Japanese, they say “kyubashinogi（急場凌ぎ）” which means to overcome an emergency. Originally they used to write it “急刃凌ぎ” which kanji of “place”（場）was “blade”（刃.）

This context with “刃” means that they urgently repair a damaged sword during a battle in order to keep a fight. The original kanji with blade（刃）lends a more serious and immediate threatening nuance to this expression as it is currently written with place（場）, doesn’t it?
