“Kumamoto Castle” under repair since 2006 after the last earthquake damage
In Japanese, they say “kyubashinogi(急場凌ぎ)” which means to overcome an emergency. Originally they used to write it “急刃凌ぎ” which kanji of “place”(場)was “blade”(刃.)
This context with “刃” means that they urgently repair a damaged sword during a battle in order to keep a fight. The original kanji with blade(刃)lends a more serious and immediate threatening nuance to this expression as it is currently written with place(場), doesn’t it?
