The apprenticeship where Masato’s father found for him, who graduated from high school, was a joiner in Kanuma city in Tochigi prefecture that is very far away from Ohkawa city. There were two colleagues who just graduated from middle school. However, one quitted training in May and another followed to quit in August so that Masato became the only disciple left in 4 months. His father seemed to think that it was better to work far away from home since he was unable to come back home easily even if a craftsman ascetic practices life was very tough and servere. He found at that time why his father strongly pushed him to wait until he graduated from high school. Masato often shed tears while feeling very lonely at night, thanking his parents’ love.
He was afraid to disturb his master’s work while he was learning. Therefore he always prepared for a work in advance and asked any question proactively rather than just waiting for his teachings.
He asked a lesson what he did not know but he never asked the same question. And he took the memo for the points or hints only but not all lessons, and he tried to reproduce a lesson later. Although he prepared for work, he concentrated on observing what his master was doing in front of him and tried to make a simulation without any preconception. Then, he could learn the important points without missing them during his ascetic practice times
