YUKAWA, Yasha swordsmith story 4
One night, Yukawa aws sleeping on the couch, and a Japanese sword appeared in his dream so realistically that he could not tell the difference between reality and a dream. He jumped out from the couch and told his girlfriend whom he was dating at that time that he was going to be a swordsmith. 10 minutes after he found Matsuba swordsmith business card, he was calling him in Japan.
Matsuba swordsmith gave the exact opposite answer, saying that it was absolutely impossible to be a swordsmith, unlike at the time of his father’s wedding. Without training every day, it would take at least 15 years to become a full-skilled person. Matsuba swordsmith also advised that there was no guarantee that Yukawa could pass the examination to become a swordsmith, and it would be impossible without a considerable amount of savings since he had to cover all of his living expenses during the period of training.
He was living in the countryside without internet service so he went to the city library and sent many emails trying to convince Matsuba swordsmith. Then, Yukawa got rid of his house, car, music studio, etc., and made a living expenses for the time being. He went to Japan in a kind of rushing manner to Matsuba swordsmith forge in Hyuga, Miyazaki prefecture.
It was a very short period of time, two months after he came to Japan, his father passed away because of cancer. Yukawa went back to Sweden again for one year and it was 2010 when he came back to Hyuga, Japan again.
正夢
湯川がある晩、カウチで寝ていた時に日本刀が夢の中でリアルに現われ、現実と夢の違いがわからないほどだったのを彼は今でも鮮明に覚えていると話をしてくれました。彼はすぐに飛び起きて当時付き合っていた彼女に刀匠になると伝え、松葉刀匠の名刺を探し出して１０分後には日本の松葉刀匠に電話をかけていたそうです。
しかし、松葉刀匠は結婚式の時とは違い、絶対無理だという真反対の意見でした。毎日修行は無理だから一人前になるまで最低１５年はかかる。その後、刀匠になる試験に合格できる保証はどこにもないし、その修行期間中の生活費はすべて自分で賄う必要があることから相当な貯蓄がないと無理だという忠告であった。
湯川はインターネットもない田舎暮らしをしていたので、その後、街の図書館まで行って何度も電子メールを送って、松葉刀匠を説得しようとしました。
そして、家、車や音楽スタジオなどを処分し、当座の生活費を作って、宮崎日向にある松葉刀匠の元に半ば押しかけるような格好で来日しました。それも束の間、来日２ヶ月後に父親がガンで他界し、再びスウェーデンに戻ること１年。日向にもどったのは２０１０年であった。
