At the same workshop, a designer was working whose name is Yukiko who was two years senior at work. She also helped as a weaver when we were so busy with many orders.
The working environment was monotonous and depressing, but fortunately, I was so lucky to refresh myself by having a post-work date with Yukiko, who would be my wife in the future. During my training era, I married Yukiko, who is a designer and weaver.
Yukiko and I are sharing our passion to pass on this rare hand-woven Nabeshima Dantsu to posterity. In 2012, we incorporated “Weaving Story Co., Ltd.” with our weavers’ friends to challenge some changes for the work of Nabeshima Dantsu.
10 years later, we have our hand-woven workshop in the former residence of Morinaga, Saga city history and folklore museum. In 2016, our product was designated as a traditional local product of Saga prefecture and we are creating and manufacturing a new Nabeshima Dantsu with weaving the history and culture of Saga.
