Sori ga awanai(反りが合わない)= The curve does not match
One of the Japanese sword blades’ uniqueness is its curve. Each sword has a different curve and length. So, a scabbard (sheath) must be made to match to fit its blade shape perfect.
Therefore, if you try to put back your sword into a wrong scabbard, it will not fit in. This means that you do not get along with that person; e.g. unmatching chemistry.
On the other hand, there is another idiomatic expression; “Moto no sayani modoru(元の鞘に戻る)” which says that a sword returns back to its original scabbard and that sword fits well with its scabbard. This expresses that you will reconcile with a person.
