As you may know that the traditional Japanese houses are made of woods and papers, the main part is wood. The partitions such as sliding doors, shoji screens and the shields from outside are papers with wooden frames. The interior decoration called “Kumiko” was created from such a Japanese joinery technology. Kumiko is the technique that they finely split numerous small pieces of wood and combine them into a geometric pattern without using nails and adhesives but with grooves.
